DailyLit - read books via email/rss

So I’ve been hooked by this service (DailyLit) since yesterday. It’s simple, you can register or not and subscribe to books in their collection daily via email or RSS.

My first book is The Art Of War (Sun Tzu) (even though I do have a copy of the e-book from Gutenberg, I can’t find any free time to finish it).

And the first part arrived this morning. I set it so that each part/chapter will arrive around 8 am daily, since this is when I read my emails, news and stuffs before really start working around 9 am.  The next thing to do is to read them one part/chapter per day (if can).

If you’re into books and spends most of your time in front of the PC, give it a try :)

p/s: This is not a paid preview :) - don’t even have any ads here on my tumblog :P

You can send messages, links, files, and events. So if you really wanna share stuffs with your pals, you can use Pownce.

If you want one, just drop me an email edham.arief[at]gmail[dot]com with subject: “Pownce invitation”. First come first serve :)

Cat that can predict patient’s deaths

Oscar the Cat Predicts Patients’ Deaths

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

p/s: You know it’s your time, when Oscar comes next to you :P

It handles more than 77 percent of all Web searches originating in South Korea, thanks largely to content generated, free of charge, by people like Park and Cho.”

Caching!

Today I took a look at one of my Rails project’s codes and found that I’m doing multiple same sql queries over a few of my controllers. The log file shows messy calls to the database.

Thanks to the Query Trace plugin managed to track down to each line of code where those sql queries are called.
