The ideal engineer is a composite… He is not a scientist, he is not a mathematician, he is not a sociologist or a writer; but he may use the knowledge and techniques of any or all of these disciplines in solving engineering problems.
Nathan W. Dougherty, Former Dean of Engineering at the University of Tennessee (via reddit)
Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.

School-days, I believe, are the unhappiest in the whole span of human existence. They are full of dull, unintelligible tasks, new and unpleasant ordinances, brutal violations of common sense amd common decency. It doesn’t take a reasonably bright boy long to discover that most of what is rammed into him is nonsense, and that no one really cares very much whether he learns it or not.

Lots of misinformation going around about ‘anarchists’ in London. Those initiating force against other people or their property are NOT anarchists, they’re criminals (whether they have a black bandana over their face or a badge on their chest). The folks who claim a ‘legitimate’ right to use force have an incentive to mislabel - it scares people, making them more likely to stand idly by as their rights are usurped. And it makes real anarchists, who advocate the NAP, less likely to find receptive minds. As Joseph Sobran said, ‘The measure of the State’s success is that the word ‘anarchy’ frightens people, while the word ‘State’ does not.’
